First of all from me and on behalf of the other members, a big thank you to Joan Jackaman, SOS's Public Relations officer, for her time and
effort in designing our beautiful new website.  
 
Also, thank you Debbie for your words of support and comfort in your Christmas Message in the recent passing of my husband Ron. 
The support I have received from my WI friends and in SOS has just been overwhelming to me - I will always remember this.

Merry Christmas 2011

I apologize for not getting a letter off sooner but as many of you will know, our Women's Institute branch has taken on a quilt project for those in Goderich who have suffered great losses due to the tornado that hit our town in late August. To date we have 86 households on our recipient list and we plan to distribute sometime in January.
 
It was with great sadness that myself, Margaret Ogar and Joan Jackaman, as well as many, many WI friends visited with SOS secretary Joanne Erickson...

Tornado in Goderich

Dear SOS membership;
 
As most of you will know by now, our beloved community of Goderich has been devastated by a tornado. While mine and Wayne's home is 10 minutes from town Goderich is our primary centre for all business and I have always considered it "my town".  Many of you will have seen some of the photos which show the destruction but do little to convey the sense of urgency and appeal. Part-way through summer News from Pres Deb

Dear Membership;
 
        I hope your summer has been as wonderful as mine has been. First a trip of a life-time to Newfoundland where we enjoyed every minute, to my first Canadian ACWW conference in Halifax, which was exciting to say the least. I offer you this update as a keeping in touch more so than a formal report and I trust the others who were also in Halifax might have input as to their own experiences during the conference.

Hello there. Several of us are in preparation for the ACWW conference in Nova Scotia in July. I am hoping to take care of several pieces of business while there, including the necessary letter for the bank from Margaret Yetman (our Canadian President), and passing some fundraising ideas past both Margaret and May Kidd (our World President).
